Icon's History It is said that the timeless design of the Portuguese chair was inspired by the German Bauhaus school and the curved steel tube chairs of some furniture design pioneers such as René Herbst, Marcel Breuer, and Mies van der Rohe. Its success is based on a tubular structure consisting of two curved steel tubes: the main one, forming the rear legs and extending as support for the arms and back, and the second one, defining the two front legs and serving as the outline of the seat back.
